➀ Overview
A redesign and illustrations for Momo by Michael Ende, a heartwarming novel that had a lasting impact on my view of life. It explores the themes of time, human connections, and the power of imagination.
➁ GOAL
To draw the audience closer to the story with a rather approachable than abstract illustration style, selecting key moments from the novel. I also aimed to create a highly readable version using a classic serif font, designed specifically to make reading a physical book comfortable and effortless.
➂ APPROACH
All illustrations are hand-drawn with black pen and ink, carefully executed, then scanned. The cover design follows the same process, but the letters are drawn with my left hand to resemble a child's handwriting, reflecting the main character, who is a little girl. The lines that create a textured background are uneven to enhance the organic feel.
